anticipated with this storm, with locally heavier amounts in
New Jersey possible.
Bands of heavy rain have affected, and will continue to affect the
Flood Watch area tonight. These bands will lift slowly from south
to north and exit northern New Jersey and Pennsylvania tonight.
Given this amount of rain, the potential exists for areas of
dangerous flooding to develop and continue over the next couple
of days. Several flood warnings and advisories are currently in
effect, and more are expected through Sunday. Smaller streams will
respond first to the rainfall followed by the larger rivers. In
addition, these rainfall amounts will cause areas of flooding on
roadways and poor drainage.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
